Ausonia

“The tale of a butterfly will introduce you to this little world.” This is the incipit that can be read on the website of this small agricultural company, founded in 2008 by Simone Binelli, a pharmacist from Abruzzo who at a certain point in his life understood that the best thing, the most satisfying of all, was to follow the their passion, wine, and therefore realize their dream. With the indispensable favor and help of his wife Francesca, he enrolled in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Florence to learn a fascinating profession, but decidedly full of complexity. A tough but exciting path, which within a few years led him to abandon his job as a pharmacist and, driven by his love for the countryside, wine and the natural beauty of Abruzzo, he founded his small agricultural company. Thus was born Ausonia, a small and fascinating reality in the municipality of Atri, in the province of Teramo; the ideas are very clear, right from the beginning, and are aimed at crops with very low environmental impact, with the principle of intervening in the cellar as little as possible, avoiding the use of synthetic chemical substances. With these assumptions, Simone naturally embraces the biodynamic philosophy and, consequently, in his cellar project he favors the native varieties of the territory: hence the vinification of pecorino, Trebbiano and, obviously, Montepulciano, also in the Cerasuolo version. Biodynamic wine is a natural wine, an expression of a defined territory, that of Abruzzo in this case, with a strong, decisive and authentic character like that of its people. Here Simone's dream came true.
