There are 5 members who gave life to this agricultural entrepreneurial initiative, Il Verro, in 2003; it is the story of a friendship born in the distant sixties, on the desks of high school: the five classmates of the time aspire to return to the solid values of the most ancient local traditions, thus the agricultural company was born, aimed at producing quality wine and oil . Monte Maggiore, which dominates the Riardo basin rich in mineral waters on one side and the Volturno valley on the other, is the landscape and environmental setting of the winery; the name instead derives from the one the locals gave to the male wild boar ( 'u verru), so frequent in the area. The partners initially purchased an old vineyard, overgrown with weeds and on a steep slope, consisting mainly of an endangered native vine, the Casavecchia. The company, to date, owns 14 hectares, of which 4 are vineyards, located on soils of volcanic origin, with exposure to the South-East, where the most important temperature variations between day and night are recorded, from which the best benefit. estate vineyards. The characteristics of the volcanic soil, approximately 330 meters above sea level and the excellent exposure with strong temperature variations on the slopes of Monte Maggiore, give the wines flavour, minerality and persistence common to those of the great Italian volcanic wines. Production stands at around 20,000 bottles per year, entirely oriented towards valorising the native vines of the area, namely the casavecchia, the white pallagrello and the black pallagrello, to which is added an ancient vine with a curious name: Coda di Pecora. Objective: to promote the local wine heritage and produce single-variety wines that follow the traditions linked to the territory of origin. Furthermore, the company has also obtained certifications for organic agricultural cultivation and production of organic wines, to protect and guarantee for the consumer the high quality and authenticity of the wines produced. One of the reasons for pride in the members' activity is precisely the passion for wine combined with the passion for nature and for the valorization of the territory .
