Conterno Diego

We are in Monforte d'Alba, one of the most famous and suitable locations in Italy for the production of wines of absolute excellence. The territory of Monforte is, in fact, one of the eleven municipalities in which the rigid Barolo regulations allow the production of the wine of the same name. And we are in the presence of a winemaker, Diego Conterno, with great experience: the family, in fact, has been producing great wines for several generations and Diego, together with his cousin Claudio and Guido Fantino, in 1982, founded the Conterno Fantino company which , to date, represents an iconic brand known throughout the world for the production of Barolo in its noblest sense. At the beginning of the millennium, Diego decides to separate from the rest of the family and continue his entrepreneurial path alone, creating a new winemaking reality, which takes his name, in line with his personal production philosophy. Thus was born Diego Conterno, a small and original winery, whose originality can already be perceived from the graphic style of the labels which, in a singular and fun way, manage to represent the true spirit of this "vigneron" who, in a short time, has managed to establish itself for the balance and harmony that characterize all the wines produced. In addition to obsessive work in the vineyard, the small 600-liter French barrels dominate in the cellar, used for several different vintages, with the aim of allowing maturations that do not cover the original aromas of the precious Nebbiolo from Barolo and, consequently, the nuances of a territory unique and extraordinary. Since 2009, the precious contribution of his son Stefano has been added. The company today extends for approximately 7 hectares and the most representative vines of the Langhe terroir are cultivated here, namely Nebbiolo, Nascetta, Barbera and Dolcetto. Elegant, complex, intense labels full of unique territorial expressions.
