The history of the Dogliotti family is more than a century long, which began in 1870 in Castiglione Tinella, in the homeland of Moscato, with the brothers Giuseppe and Marcello. From the outset, production was based on the valorisation of local native vines, primarily Moscato. The simplicity of the processing and the naturalness of the cultivation reward the work of the Dogliottis: this results in recognition and gold medals in important wine competitions. We are at the beginning of the 20th century, the market is still strictly local, but when Luigi, Giuseppe's son, takes over, in 1929 he transfers the then small winery to Castagnole delle Lanze and begins to explore, through the fairs of the time, the foreign markets. In a short time, Moscato d'Asti crossed national borders, becoming known and appreciated above all in France and Switzerland. From that moment on, generations followed one another, expansions and developments took place, production increased, as did the types of wine produced by the cellar, with the aim of making the territory and local traditions known. In the approximately ten hectares of vineyards owned by the estate, divided between the territories of the Asti municipalities of Coazzalo and Castagnole Lanze and the Cuneo area of Santa Vittoria d'Alba, the Dogliotti 1870 winery cultivates various varieties such as Barbera, Dolcetto, Arneis, Nebbiolo and Chardonnay, in addition obviously to the moscato which represents the flagship label. The Dogliottis' interpretation of this wine is curious: always known as a fresh wine to be drunk young, it is considered excellent for ageing, as it offers very interesting evolutions as the years pass. Today the management of the winery is in the hands of the 3 cousins Erik, Ivan and Matteo Dogliotti who, with enthusiasm, have combined their different personal skills to relaunch the family business and project it onto international markets.
