The Disisa Agricultural Company is located in Sicily, in the territory of Monreale, in the province of Palermo, at an altitude of 400-500 meters above sea level. Its history is very long and complex; the Disisa fiefdom has belonged to the Di Lorenzo family for over a century, but the real transformation took place in the years between 1930 and 1940, when Mario Di Lorenzo expanded the cultivations, both of vines and olive trees and this inevitably changed the face of the territory , both from an agricultural and economic-social point of view. We are in an area where the winemaking vocation is authentic and the use of the most advanced technologies has managed to transform the original pastures and arable land into lush vineyards and olive groves. The family, now in its fifth generation, has always managed each activity directly with innovative and cutting-edge choices, while always maintaining respect for traditions and the territory. Today the estate extends for 400 hectares and falls within the DOC Alcamo and DOC Monreale areas, as regards wine production; for olive production it is included in the "Val di Mazara" PDO district. It is important to underline that since 1970 the Di Lorenzos, in collaboration with the Regional Institute of Wines and Oils of Sicily, have carried out a wide-ranging experimentation to verify the adaptation to the soil and the Sicilian climate of the most important national and international vines . Disisa can therefore boast the first and oldest vineyard of Chardonnay grapes in Sicily and today, thanks to the generosity of the terroir, the complicity of the climate, the warmth of the sun, the care and passion of the men it has been enriched, year after year, with particular nuances, with unmistakable aromas, giving life to a wine with a strong personality. The name Disisa probably derives from the Arabic word “Aziz” – “the splendid” -. Already in 1200, when Sicily was a land of conquest, the emirs who came from the desert found the Paradise on Earth in these valleys, for its waterways and shade, for the scents of the herbs, for the fountains and palm trees , for cultivated land.
