It was Siro Pacenti who had the brilliant intuition, in 1970, with the purchase of the current property north of Montalcino, in the Pelagrilli area. Brunello was certainly not, at the time, the wine that is today so well known and celebrated in the world, but these were the years in which some important vineyards were planted on the estate, still existing on the side towards Siena, from which the Sangiovese cuttings are currently reproduced for the new plants and which will prove particularly important in determining the qualitative characteristics of the Siro Pacenti wines. In 1988, the management of the winery passed to his nephew Giancarlo; this event coincides with the first official bottling of Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino dedicated to their grandfather "Siro Pacenti". The prestigious career of one of the most representative wineries in the Ilcinese area begins from here. Between 2001 and 2004, the new cellar was built, where technology and experience come together while respecting tradition. Today the twenty-two hectares of vineyard are entirely planted with Sangiovese: in the Pelagrilli area, clay and sand characterize the land with vineyards located at the foot of the Montalcino hill, at 350 m. of altitude. In Piancornello, the vineyards are located on soils rich in minerals, pebbles and ground rock. The climate is warmer and the wines are structured and powerful, with sweet and round tannins, typical of Sangiovese. These micro climatic differences have an important influence on the wines produced, therefore during the harvest the grapes are strictly respected with the separate harvesting of each parcel, after which they are strictly selected and checked grain by grain. Long months of slow evolution follow during which the vigor of the tannins gives way to the finesse and complexity which are essential characteristics in "Siro Pacenti" wines.
