The history of the winery has distant origins: it starts from the intuition of Luigi Arnulfo, a pharmacist from Cherasco, who at the end of the 19th century purchased land and vineyards in the Bussia area, considered today one of the most suitable and prestigious for the production of Nebbiolo from Barolo. The idea was to produce Barolo immediately, in a structured way, which proved to be popular not only locally. At the time the estate was called Arnulfo and the winemaker pharmacist began to build commercial relationships abroad, especially in North America. From these first experiences and from this documented historicity the Luigi Arnulfo Historical Museum was born today, housed inside the estate, in a space that traces the history of the winery. After several vicissitudes, in 1988 the Sartirano family purchased the estate, the name was changed to Costa di Bussia, but the objective was to preserve the historicity of the company. From the very beginning, Paolo and Guido Sartirano's objective was to continue in the wake of tradition, focusing on wines capable of best expressing the peculiarities of Bussia. We are in Monforte d'Alba, a terroir capable of producing great wines, loved and appreciated all over the world. All this also with an eye to wine tourism, in fact the winery is surrounded, at 360° degrees, by 11 hectares of company vineyards, in addition to the Museum, and offers a large tasting room flanked by three suites overlooking the vineyards, rooms equipped with every comfort and now made available to customers and journalists. The main vine is clearly Nebbiolo, with which various versions of Barolo are made, with all the reference Crus of the estate, but we also find the native Dolcetto and Barbera and a very interesting white, produced in purity with Chardonnay grapes, which although not being a local variety, it always has excellent qualitative yields in the Langhe.
