Strasserhof

In Novacella, near the Isarco Valley, there is Strasserhof Weingut, one of the oldest wineries in Alto Adige. Located about 700 meters above sea level, it is located in a nineteenth-century farmhouse, nestled among the vineyards and with a truly unique sunny position. The winery was refounded in 2003 by the young oenologist Hannes Baumgartner, who personally takes care of all the delicate steps of production, from the vineyard to the final product. In total respect for the surrounding nature and the territory, the production mainly includes white wines such as Muller Thurgau, Riesling and Gewurztraminer, as well as the cultivation of the red grape variety Zweigel, a hybrid developed in 1922 in Austria by Professor Fritz Zweigelt by crossing the St. Laurent with Blaufränkisch (Franconia) and is, to date, the most cultivated red grape variety in Austria. The particular climatic conditions, favored by a sandy and gravelly soil composition, allow the growth of fine vineyards ranging from two to forty-five years of age and whose grapes give the wine a particular fruity and delicate freshness, truly unique. The artisanal peculiarity of this company has allowed it to spread and be talked about all over the world, thus being able to export its wine overseas, including the United States and Japan. Hannes Baumgartner also offers interesting guided tours of the vineyards and the production line, with the possibility of staying overnight in a truly unique and extraordinary place, thus creating a surprising emotional experience, to understand and experience this heavenly place, until your last breath.
