Scavino Paolo

The Paolo Scavino winery is a winery that has made history in the Langhe. It was founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto by Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo. The latter name remained, even after his death, as a memory, a sign of affection, of gratitude from the family towards the founder's son. Today there are two more generations of Scavinos at the helm of the company: Enrico who has followed in his father Paolo's footsteps since he was a child and has seen the fruits of his labor grow, entering, step by step, almost on tiptoe, into Olympus of the Barolo producers and the sisters Enrica and Elisa, the daughters of Enrico and Anna Maria, who took over the company, bringing new passion and expertise. The Scavino winery makes wine exclusively from its own grapes from 29 hectares in the Barolo area and produces approximately 120,000 bottles a year. The company is spread over 20 historic crus in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Serralunga d'Alba, Verduno, Roddi and Novello, 8 of the 11 municipalities in the Barolo area. A strongly desired fragmentation, deriving from the passion for the different terroirs whose distinctive characteristics the Scavino family values. Most of these vineyards are small in size and give a unique character to the quality of the wines. The different sites are privileged for natural conditions, but of decisive importance are the care of the vineyards, the interpretation and the ability of a producer in expressing the best of them. Purity of expression, complexity and elegance is what the Scavino family seeks in their wines.
