Ofelio Fattoi purchased the current property in the mid-60s, even though the production of Brunello began much later, in 1979. The first years were critical, the wines were difficult, rough, difficult, but after a lot of work, many sacrifices and experimentation Ofelio and his sons, Leonardo and Lamberto, manage to create a winery that, for almost 40 years now, has been producing wine and oil with the same passion and dedication as in the beginning and, above all, with great quality. It is certainly a traditional and family-run winery; these characteristics can be found directly in the excellent wines of their production. Energy, skill and tenacity have made Montalcino famous throughout the world and the same elements distinguish the Fattoi agricultural company which is located south of the municipality of Montalcino, in the Santa Restituta area, one of the most beautiful valleys in the area, at the crossroads between the Ombrone and Orcia rivers. The position of the vineyards is excellent and, touched by sea breezes, allows for perfect ripening of the grapes, a key element for producing high quality wines.
The management, as we said, is family-run and, for this reason, everything is controlled in detail, from the vineyard to the cellar which is made up of 9 hectares of vineyards. Leonardo and Lamberto continue to create exciting red wines, with character and an admirable artisanal imprint. Naturally, Sangiovese Grosso, known as Brunello, reigns supreme, the main grape variety of the area which allows the production of 3 extraordinary wines: Rosso di Montalcino doc, Brunello di Montalcino docg and Brunello di Montalcino Riserva docg.
