The first date of reference, in the long and prestigious history of the winery, is 1878 when the twenty-three-year-old Enrico, heir to a family of landowners from Romano Canavese , decided to move to Canale d'Alba , with the serious intention of producing wine. There are no precedents or family experience in the sector, but it will soon be discovered that the intuition is brilliant. And we immediately aim "high" with the production of Barolo , Barbaresco and Metodo Classico . In 1884 the winery obtained the title of "Provveditore del Duca di Genova" and could use the symbols of the " Royal House ". This also helps the development of sales abroad: in 1900, it successfully participates in the first Universal Exhibition of the 20th Century , in Paris where it received four medals for as many labels presented. The fame and prestige of the winery progressively increased: in 1910 Enrico was named " Cavaliere del Lavoro " as a producer of "fine luxury wines", as they were defined at the time. With his passing in 1922, his sons took the helm of the prestigious winery. In this period, the wines and sparkling wines of the winery, in particular the " Asti Champagne " and the " Gran spumante Regina ", are exported to the United States as well as to Latin America and other countries. Multiple awards and recognitions underline this success. In 1970, following the creation of the Barolo and Barbaresco Doc, the winery was granted the " acquired historical right " to conduct the entire winemaking and aging process in its own cellars in Canale, located outside the municipalities envisaged by the regulations. In 1989, the Barbero Group acquired Enrico Serafino and began the Alta Langa Project. In 2003 the sale took place to the Campari Group which continues to invest in technology at the service of quality. And here, in 2015, the last step with the Krause Gentile family who became owners of the cellar, collecting and continuing Enrico Serafino's legacy. Nico Conta, veteran of the Piedmontese wine world, is appointed President. As a result of this new impetus, in 2018, the winery presents the first bottle of " Zero Alta Langa 140 months DOC 2005 " which becomes the classic Italian method with the longest aging on the yeasts.
