Nervi

The NERVI winery, in Gattinara, in Northern Piedmont, was founded in 1906 by Giuseppe Nervi, a highly experienced winemaker who decided to create an agricultural company specialized in the production of high quality wines, a true intuition at the time, strongly believing in the local grape variety: Nebbiolo. Over the years, the NERVI winery acquires fame and notoriety thanks to its production of red wines, such as Gattinara DOCG, a long-lived and intense wine, with a garnet red color and elegant aromas. In recent years, exactly in 2018, after 6 years of consultancy, the famous producer Roberto Conterno takes over the company, creating a new, modern and beautiful cellar and renovating the historic one, now reserved for the wine archive, in the heart of the historic center of Gattinara. Furthermore, a luxurious restaurant was also created: Cucine Nervi. It must be said that NERVI today is also known for its attention to the environment and its sustainability. The company uses environmentally friendly agricultural practices and invests in technologies that reduce the environmental impact of wine production. The extension of the estate is over 25 hectares of vineyards, in which Nebbiolo is mainly grown, as per local tradition, here also called Spanna. It should be underlined that the dark soils of the ancient super volcano of Valsesia, extremely rich in minerals, are particularly suited to the production of Nebbiolo, furthermore the climate is dry and at the same time cool, thanks to Monte Rosa and its 4000 meters of height which it protects the vineyards from the cold northern winds and guarantees a correct rainfall and ventilation regime, enhancing the degree of aromaticity of the grapes, favoring the production of deep, complex and very mineral wines, which strongly reflect the terroir.
