The land of Gattinara has been producing wine since Roman times, as attested by archaeological findings in the area. In the vineyards of Gattinara the Nebbiolo vine is mainly grown, which in these areas has been called Spanna since time immemorial. The Antoniolo winery was founded here in 1948, in northern Piedmont, by Mario Antoniolo, with the collaboration of his daughter Rosanna, who took over the management in 1980. Today the winery has passed to Rosanna's children Alberto and Lorella. The common thread that guides the work of the Antoniolo family through the generations is the great love and respect for the land they cultivate, trying to apply simple and minimally invasive methods, leaving room for the work of nature.
The 11 hectares of the Antoniolo family are between 35 and 40 years old and grow in particularly suitable areas with a ventilated climate, southern exposure and soil of morainic-volcanic origin. In the cellar, traditional procedures are favored such as maceration with indigenous yeasts for 14-16 days, to continue with aging for a period ranging from 18 to 30 months in oak barrels, to conclude with refinement for 12 months in the bottle . The wines are very representative of the area, austere, with character and rightly tannic and above all with a lot of personality. A cellar waiting to be discovered!
