Abbona Marziano

A family story that has its roots in a man's deep passion for his wine: we are talking about Celso, Marziano's father, who almost sixty years ago decided to plant the Doriolo vineyard, which due to exposure, soil and context represented, at the time, a real novelty and innovation for the production of Dolcetto. The Abbona winery was founded in 1970, then it was Marziano's turn to take up his father's legacy and, with care, dedication and brilliant intuitions, he managed to obtain wines of the highest quality and related recognition, becoming one of the most appreciated winemakers in the Langhe . Truly prestigious wines come to life from these wonderful lands: from the aforementioned Dolcetto di Dogliani, to Barbera, to Nebbiolo in its various variations; they all represent the immense passion, the territory, the tradition of the Langhe. In this context, Marziano does not lack the desire to experiment, to create new wines, outside of tradition: an example of this is the Cinerino, produced from Viogner grapes, which has allowed all enthusiasts of the world of wine to get closer to a grape of semi-unknown French origin, whose wine is extremely pleasant, with exotic aromas and great drinkability. The heart of Marziano Abbona's activities is represented by the San Luigi farmhouse, the place where all this came to life, which was recently renovated and which also saw the creation of a photovoltaic system to cover, in total autonomy, the energy requirements of the entire business: therefore also pay attention to the environment to preserve and pass down a priceless heritage to children. The Abbona winery therefore presents itself as a great protagonist in the redevelopment of Dolcetto, a wine that is often unfairly underestimated and often in the shadow of the more celebrated Langa wines, but which instead has within itself extraordinary potential for qualitative expression.
