Domenico Poggiali purchased the Fèlsina farm in 1966 and, with a courageous act in that difficult moment for Italian viticulture, chose to invest in the quality of the wine and the expertise of some young people.
Passionate about viticulture and skilled entrepreneurs, Domenico and his son Giuseppe Poggiali modernized the management of the countryside, without abandoning the spirit of tradition. In the space of a few years, the hectares under vines became more than forty and the soul and organization of the company also changed. In the second half of the seventies, his son-in-law Giuseppe Mazzocolin entered the company, with the task of developing the company commercially. His humanistic culture and awareness of man's responsibility in work contributed to the growth of wine culture in Italy and abroad, obtaining the first international recognition. The friendship with Luigi Veronelli and the collaboration with the oenologist Franco Bernabei have traced a path that is revealed with extreme consistency in the wines starting from the 1983 vintage, the first of Fontalloro and Rancia, up to the present day. Under the guidance of Domenico and Giuseppe Poggiali, a journey began which since 1990 has also seen Giovanni Poggiali, the first of Giuseppe's three children, as its protagonist.
Positioned between the last offshoots of the Chianti mountains and the initial part of the Ombrone valley, Fèlsina spreads over an area of approximately 600 hectares of which 95 are dedicated to vineyards. From a geological point of view, Fèlsina presents itself as a "border land" between Chianti Classico and Crete Senesi, in the direction of Montalcino.
The result of a unique union between land and vine, culture and effort of the hands, oenological science and the knowledge of the cellarman, the Fèlsina vines express the particularity of the terroir, the landscapes, the scents, the sounds of this corner of Tuscany, bringing it to life history and tradition. The cellar is organically run.
