Brezza Giacomo

Born in 1885 from the skilful work of Giacomo Brezza, the winery is one of the historical names of Barolo; we are talking about a producer who has been able to confirm himself, year after year, at the top of Langa production. Enzo Brezza, representative of the fourth generation, can now count on 25 hectares of land intended for vineyards, carefully managed in full respect of the balance of the environment, nature and ecosystem, in order to maintain healthy and fertile plants and soils. The philosophy of the Brezza family is easily understandable: producing great red wines with full respect for nature. Hence the choice of organic production, understood as an ethical and cultural value and not as a sales tool. By working exclusively with proprietary grapes, the company manages to have a production of around 80,000 bottles per year, labels that are almost all born from many years of ageing. Between the rows, the care is obsessive and meticulous, the pruning is timely and the thinning is accurate, composting is used and green manure is used and mechanical means are used wisely. During the harvest, the grapes are harvested only when they reach the right level of ripeness. In the cellar, without ever losing sight of traditions and typicality, the most modern oenological equipment is used. The wines are never filtered or clarified and the aging is carried out in large Slavonian oak barrels, built with the staves bent over fire, but not toasted. The production includes the classic Piedmontese red vines (Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Freisa) and Chardonnay as the only "white" exception. The Brezza family also runs a restaurant and a hotel a few steps from the center of Barolo, where it is possible to visit a small historical museum which contains all the equipment used in the past for work in the vineyard.
