The history of the Frescobaldi family begins more than a thousand years ago and is intimately linked to the history of Tuscany. In the height of medieval Florence, the Frescobaldis extended their influence as bankers, earning them the title of treasurers of the English crown. A little later, with the flourishing of the Renaissance, they became patrons of important artists and works in Florence, such as the construction of the Santa Trinità bridge and the Basilica of Santo Spirito. Creativity and the pursuit of excellence have been handed down over the centuries to all generations of the family. With great openness towards the future, the family's ancestors introduced then unknown vines to Tuscany in 1855, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The 20th century is characterized by the action of Vittorio, Ferdinando and Leonardo Frescobaldi who made an important contribution to elevating Tuscany to a place of excellence for viticulture. Today, Lamberto Frescobaldi has taken over the baton who, thanks to his long technical experience, has the aim of further strengthening the uniqueness of the wines of each family estate. Today Frescobaldi owns 1200 hectares of vineyards, spread across 5 estates, with land particularly suited to the production of wine, which extends around ancient castles of the property. The name Frescobaldi carries with it the responsibility of cultivating the best of Tuscan diversity, through the eco-sustainable cultivation of the land, to produce fine wines that perfectly represent and fully show the diversity of the family estates.
