Balter

The history of this winery dates back a long time, precisely when a structure used for military purposes in 1500, called the castelliere, was transformed into an agricultural activity; The Balters settled here, we are at the end of the 19th century. Different events and fortunes alternate: the fifties are equally complicated, the Balter family moves away from agricultural activity, however carrying it forward with passion, to concentrate their efforts on an activity commercial resale of carpets and floors. We had to wait until 1965, when the land, reclaimed at the end of the Second World War, began to bear the first fruits. The vineyards are planted again with technical-agronomic criteria. Since then the Balters have been involved in wine full-time: initially, managing only the vineyard and harvest phases, and then delivering the grapes to the local wineries. But with the experience and skills gradually acquired, the passion for wine becomes stronger and more intense every day and the awareness is created that excellent wines can be made even in complete autonomy. Making wine becomes a new goal to achieve for the Balter family and here we arrive at 1990 with the construction of the new underground cellar, symbol of a new work path in continuous development and increasingly rewarding. The protagonists of the new adventure are Francesco, with his children Nicola and Barbara. The winery's activity was initially focused on great red wines, mainly from international vines, with Cabernet Sauvignon in the lead, then, thanks to Nicola's intuition and spirit of enterprise, the company took the path of Classic Method sparkling winemaking, following the success of Trento DOC which, in those years, experienced a real boom. Today, the production of still white and red wines remains irreplaceable, but the flagships of the winery are represented by unmissable, elegant, fresh and complex sparkling wines, the likes of which are rarely tasted in this denomination.
