The entrepreneurial adventure of the Querciabella winery was born way back in 1974 by Giuseppe Pepito Castiglioni , a far-sighted industrialist, as well as a great enthusiast and lover of good quality wine who began production with the purchase of a single hectare of vineyard. Precise objective right from the start: to produce elegant wines, obtained not only from Sangiovese grapes, therefore native, but also by cultivating and processing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco grapes, i.e. those of his beloved Bordeaux wines. Pepito's son, Sebastiano , also an entrepreneur, took over the leadership of the company in the 80s, expanding its objectives: producing excellent wines, but with great respect for the surrounding environment; so he converted the farm to organic viticulture in 1988, making Querciabella one of the first wineries in Italy to adopt this methodology. In 2000, this path, devoted to environmental sensitivity, underwent a further evolution: in fact Sebastiano introduced biodynamic practices , more severe and extreme than organic ones, abolishing every synthetic chemical substance, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, products of animal, invasive machinery, etc. Once again, Querciabella proves to be a game-changer in the wine industry and an inspiration to many colleagues.
Today Querciabella cultivates approximately 100 hectares of vineyards, uniting the estates in Chianti and Maremma , which thrive in the rich soil cultivated with self-produced natural substances. Querciabella's commitment to creating extraordinary wines, without harming the delicate balance of nature, is and will remain alive for a long time. The Querciabella labels have been called "Burgundy in spirit" and this is a great source of pride for the company. It should be remembered that the name Querciabella means "beautiful oak", in perfect line with the environmental symbiosis that the winery boasts with the surrounding nature.
