Georges Laval

A small quality vigneron in the Vallée de la Marne. This is what the title of an article or documentary could be. In fact, the small Georges Laval winery has been producing champagne since 1971, precisely in a small village called Cumières. Here there are only 3 hectares of vineyards, a small plot of land that has always been cultivated following the strict principles of organic farming. Georges Laval, in fact, already in the 70s was one of the first to dedicate himself to the production of organic champagne and, for many years, remained one of the few very faithful to this type of agriculture. A small vigneron who starts from scratch, but with a family who has put all their passion and love for champagne into those 3 hectares, without ever neglecting the needs and respect for the territory. The Georges Laval winery, now entrusted to Vincent Laval, continues on the path of eco-sustainability, categorically excluding the use of pesticides and any other substance that could cause damage to the environment or could in any way alter the naturalness of the wine. The transformation of grapes into wine is carried out avoiding, in most cases, invasive cellar operations. The main Champagne grapes have always been grown at Laval, namely Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier; all the vineyards are classified as Premier Cru (the second quality classification in the region) and are thirty to seventy years old. The Laval family personally takes care of the vineyards and subsequent management: only three people for three hectares and almost 9000 bottles produced every year. Georges Laval champagnes are extremely sought after (also due to the very limited production made) and contain all the qualities of an excellent product with the further advantage of being the result of completely natural agriculture.
