Musto Carmelitano

In a wonderful region, with its landscape and centuries-old wine tradition, the Musto Carmelitano winery shines as one of the youngest and most interesting businesses. It is a family-run farm for more than three generations of winemakers; the recent history began in 2005, with the arrival of Elisabetta and her brother Luigi in the company, who inherited the passion for the land and wine from their parents and grandparents. The estate is made up of 13 hectares, 9 of which are cultivated with arable land and 4 with vineyards, almost exclusively with Aglianico del Vulture grapes, the native vine of the area. In 2006, the new cellar was built, with the insertion of new equipment and with the collaboration of the expert oenologist Sebastiano Fortunato: in this way, it was possible to obtain exceptional wines, combining local tradition with technology. The Aglianico del Vulture grapes, coming from the company vineyards, are scrupulously selected and harvested by hand; it must be said that Elisabetta and Luigi's sensitivity towards the environment led them to embrace organic farming, therefore limited use of synthetic chemistry, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Furthermore, particular care is taken in transforming the grapes into wine, with the aim of preserving all their precious organoleptic properties which can thus reflect the reference terroir. For this to happen, selected yeasts, clarifications and any stabilization intervention in the cellar are avoided. The fermentations start spontaneously, without sulfur dioxide and with only indigenous yeasts. It is clear that the Musto Carmelitano winery has been working for years with great dedication, passion and fundamentally in an artisanal way, respecting the environment and protecting the consumer. It therefore undoubtedly expresses great local wines.
