Poggio al Tesoro

We are in Bolgheri, which for about twenty years has become a high-quality wine district, recognized throughout the world. But, in reality, the history of the Poggio al Tesoro winery starts from the Veneto, with the Allegrini family, a prestigious and luminous reality from Valpolicella, synonymous with quality and considered a point of reference for Italian enology. With an entrepreneurial spirit and ambitious challenge, Allegrini has decided to put down roots in one of the most prestigious wine production areas: Tuscany. In 2001 Marilisa, together with her brother Walter, purchased a farm in Bolgheri and this is how the Poggio al Tesoro project was born. Like all large territories, there are more than one factors that determine the wine-growing vocation of the area: the proximity to the sea, the constant ventilation, favored by sea breezes and the geological variety of the soils. Winters are mild and summers last until October. The constant ventilation refreshes the air even in the hottest months and promotes the quality of the grapes. But the fundamental component that makes this area unique is represented by the light, strong and clear throughout the year: the reflection of the sun on the sea surface, in fact, is the secret of the phenolic maturation of the grapes. Poggio al Tesoro is divided into four farms which contain, just like in a treasure chest, unique qualities that combine in a magnificent way. These are 64 hectares of meticulously cared for and worked vineyards. The wines produced are intense, combining strength and elegance, structured and rich in fruity aromas and silky tannins. Add to this the choice of eco-sustainable cultivation which has therefore seen the winery confidently embrace the path of organic production. Poggio al Tesoro produces wines that have managed to gain acclaim from the public and international critics since their debut on the market.
