The Monteraponi winery is located in Radda in Chianti, a picturesque medieval village located in the province of Siena. The farm was founded in 1974 by Michele Braganti, who still heads it today, and is counted among the most important producers of Chianti Classico. The method relied on is the organic one, a factor that guarantees the purity and authenticity of the wines made: the vineyards are fertilized only and exclusively with natural fertilizers. In this way, the aim is to limit environmental impact and consumption. The property extends for approximately twelve hectares in total and is located in an undoubtedly favorable position for the cultivation of vines. The land is in fact exposed to the south and, due to its peculiar conformation, gives rise to a sort of amphitheater that shelters the vineyards from the cold winds coming from the north. At the Monteraponi winery only four grape varieties are used, three of which are black grapes and one white grape: the first, namely Sangiovese, Colorino and Canaiolo, are widespread above all in Tuscany, while the fourth, Trebbiano, it is cultivated throughout Italy and also in France. The company staff carry out the harvest by hand, so as to be able to choose the most suitable bunches one by one, and for pressing they use the Demoisy method, which ensures the integrity of the skins. Fermentation takes place in contact with indigenous yeasts, without the addition of further elements, inside concrete tanks. Instead, for refinement, oak barriques are preferred, capable of guaranteeing the finished product the correct quantity of oxygen and natural refinement. A winery capable of giving emotions through its wines, so strongly rooted in the territory from which they come.
