The origins of the Bolgheri Castle date back to 1200, since then the property of the Counts of Gheradesca family. By inheritance, the Bolgheri Castle with the surrounding lands were transferred by succession from the current family of the Zileri Dal Verme counts. Federico Zileri, agronomist, today leads the estate in collaboration with Alex Dondi, a South Tyrolean winemaker, who has been in Tuscany for years; we are in one of the most suitable and famous areas in Italy. The winery's vineyards are arranged almost entirely along the north side of the cypress avenue that leads from the sea to Bolgheri. Offering excellent east/south-east exposure, the vineyards benefit from summer sea winds, which mitigate the microclimate and dry the grapes. Among the rows you can find all the main grape varieties foreseen by the Bolgheri DOC specifications, such as merlot, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and syrah. Here then are the " Castello di Bolgheri " and the " Varvàra ", both Bordeaux-inspired cuts, composed of a base of cabernet sauvignon grapes, to which are added merlot and cabernet franc. Wines, those produced by Castello di Bolgheri, spicy and fruity at the same time, then engaging, rounded and silky, structured and tactile, and finally always punctually characterized by a note of extreme elegance and great finesse.
