Baglio del Cristo di Campobello

We are in the Agrigento countryside, 8 km from the coast, where we find chalky and calcareous soils, with vineyards located in a hilly area, between 230 and 270 meters above sea level: the Baglio del Cristo di Campobello winery is located here, precisely in Campobello di Licata. The Bonetta family has as its motto "Providence and Creation", which perfectly represents the company and its spirit of thought and action. With a density of approximately 5,000 plants per hectare, harvested by hand, according to traditional dictates, the wine production is artisanal, painstaking, almost obsessive. A point of pride for the company run by Angelo, Domenico and Carmelo Bonetta who have chosen to avail themselves of the prestigious oenological consultancy of Riccardo Cotarella, where there is attention to the little things that make the wines great. The property includes thirty hectares of vineyard land out of the company's fifty, with ten selected micro-areas, clearly distinguished by production and vine. The winery is recently established, in fact it was founded in 2000, it is very modern, with the first company harvest taking place in 2007. Despite its recent establishment it has managed to present itself as an important and innovative reality in the Sicilian territory, valorising both the native grapes and those international varieties that are well suited to these terrains where the hot summer temperatures are mitigated by sea breezes. In the cellar, the choices are innovative: special vats made of steel and French oak wood are used, in order to merge the traditional aging in wood with all the possibilities that a steel silo can offer in terms of temperature management, all controlled with automated systems and with the possibility of maintaining a historical memory of each phase of the process, demonstrating how the Bonetta family has decided to best integrate tradition and innovation, while remaining firm on one point, a real must: the quality of the final product, much appreciated by critics and the public.
