Sandi Skerk founded her winery at the end of the last century, in 1990 to be precise; the approach is truly particular, but equally precise and decisive: applying a minimalist philosophy to all the work in the vineyard and cellar. Therefore the company's philosophy includes an entirely natural and organic approach. The Skerk estate is, as such, a young and ever-growing company, thanks to Sandi's rebellious and innovative spirit. The property consists of six hectares of property, located in Prepotto on the Karst plateau; the vineyards enjoy a perfect climate and terroir for the cultivation of the area's native varieties: we are talking about Vitovska, Istrian Malvasia, Teran, but also varieties that are not strictly local such as Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio. In the vineyard all the agronomic choices, decided very carefully, are aimed at respecting the balance of the environment, nature, ecosystem and biodiversity as much as possible, for which any synthetic chemical substance between the rows and every operation is banned is aimed at the cultivation and harvesting, from harvest to harvest, of healthy, rich and concentrated grapes. The location of the cellar itself is truly curious, i.e. a simple cave dug into the karst rock. As in the vineyard, even in the cellar, vinification, aging and refinement always take place following a minimalist philosophy, in which human intervention is aimed only at enhancing and enhancing everything that the vintage and the territory have been capable of expressing in grapes. No filtration or clarification is foreseen. Sandi Skerk has managed to produce unique wines with a typical Friulian imprint, highly appreciated by the public and critics, both in Italy and abroad. The true rediscovery of the territory, a profound sense of belonging and continuity with the most ancient winemaking traditions.
