Cantina di Caldaro - Kellerei Kaltern

The Kaldaro-Kaltern winery was created thanks to the merger of the four original cooperative wineries from Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino. Already in 1986 there was the first merger between the Erste Cellar and the Neue Cellar, founded in 1900 and 1925 respectively, which joined together to create the Erste+Neue Cellar. While in 1992 there was the merger of Bauernkellerei and Jubiläumskellerei, founded in 1906 and 1908 respectively, to give rise to Kellerei Kaltern. Finally, the last act was concluded at the end of 2016 with the creation of a single winery: Caldaro-Kaltern. In Caldaro there are almost a thousand winemakers, most of them own less than one hectare. Hence the founding and vital principle of producing in cooperation. The almost 650 members gathered in the Caldaro-Kaltern winery work a total vineyard area of 471 hectares and produce crystalline and pure wines, with a mineral skeleton and essential charm. Being one of the largest companies in the wine-growing town of Caldaro, the Cantina di Caldaro takes care not only of the quality of its excellent and award-winning products, but also of social responsibility by offering itself as a stage for artistic interpretations in the context of ongoing construction projects. For example, the Wine Center , the ambitious hospitality project by the Viennese architect team feld72 which is characterized by the dialogue with the old building structure from 1911 represented by the main winery building and the new structure.
