Poggio Argentiera

The Poggio Argentiera winery is recently established: it was founded in 1997 with the purchase of the pre-existing Adua farm, dating back to the early 1900s. Initially the farm consisted of approximately 6 hectares, where Morellino di Scansano began to be produced, subsequently a new winemaking cellar was built and in 2001 the property was expanded thanks to the purchase of another farmhouse: the Keeling farm, located in a hilly area , also in the municipality of Scansano. Over time, new vineyards were added to the old and valuable vineyards and today the company has around 20 hectares of vineyards, all included in the Morellino DOCG. The winery's approach to environmental impact is fundamental, in fact since 2009 the management of the entire company has been converted following the dictates of organic farming, with the aim of seeking maximum naturalness of the wines and reducing waste to a minimum. impact of its production cycle. Specifically, the Adua farm is located in the area adjacent to the Maremma Natural Park. The vineyards are located above sea level, which is just about 5-6km from the vineyards. Here the soils are predominantly sandy and loamy, with little clay and little organic substance. A very different situation for the Keeling farm which is located at a higher altitude, on the hills, inland, still overlooking the sea. Here the natural slopes, the favorable exposure and the composition of the extremely stony soil have made it possible, in this part of the company, to create vineyards of extraordinary charm and unique characteristics that give life to equally particular wines. The wines of Poggio Argentiera, both in the expressions of the Morellino di Scansano DOCG and in those produced with international vines, express freshness, drinkability and good longevity, as well as characterized by a unique personality.
