Laherte Freres

The Laherte Frères winery was founded in 1889 by Jean-Baptiste Laherte and today is led, in compliance with the criteria of biodynamic agriculture, by the brothers Christian and Thierry, aided by their nephew Aurélien, sixth generation of the family. It is a small family business in Champagne, with a total of 10 hectares of vineyards, but divided into 72 different vineyards spread across the region! The Laherte brothers' vineyards extend across three different typical Champagne locations: Épernay, Côte des blancs, Vallée de la Marne; for a total of 10 historic Crus. The production philosophy involves absolute respect for traditions and a preference for natural methods, replacing chemical products: use of vegetal compounds to increase the defensive capacity of the vines, non-invasive pruning that maintains tall foliage, organization of work and treatments according to the most favorable days: these are the cornerstones of biodynamic agriculture, without synthetic chemistry, neither in the vineyard nor in the cellar. The production process involves separate vinification for each Cru, in order to enhance each peculiarity, followed by a selection process among the wines produced, to create a harmonious, elegant and original Champagne.
The Champagnes of the Laherte brothers are wines of great finesse, with clear and genuine aromas, as mentioned, the result of cultivation and production methods based on unconventional and sustainable systems. They are elegant and refined wines that evoke the true flavor of the grapes and the lands from which they originated. They are high quality sparkling wines capable of attracting even the most refined palates, with the fine bubbles that are enhanced by giving that complexity of aromas that only the best Champagnes can offer.
