Fattoria di Magliano

The Fattoria di Magliano, in the heart of the Grosseto Maremma, has a relatively recent history, in fact it was founded by Agostino Lenci, a footwear entrepreneur from Lucca, when in 1994 he fell in love with this land and decided to make wine, also motivated by the development that was having in that period Morellino di Scansano, today the true protagonist of Maremma viticulture. The territory is splendid, from the Argentario to Giglio, a highly suitable area, the one around Magliano, a beautiful example of a fortified hilltop village, where Lenci, year after year, has planted over 50 hectares of vineyard out of the 90 total of the property. The grapes used are both native, such as Sangiovese, and "international" such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Viognier: Poggio Bestiale is the name of the top label of the range produced, a blend of the two Cabernet and Merlot, aged in French oak barriques for 14 months. The company was among the first in the area to implement organic cultivation, strong in a marked sense of respect for the territory, the surrounding nature and with the desire to produce wines that are healthy, sincere and faithful to tradition. The cellar was built in 2001, the year of the first winemaking, with modern and efficient criteria, partly underground. In addition to the steel tanks and barriques, there are 40 hectoliter truncated cone concrete tanks, purchased in Burgundy and used for the vinification of red wines. Fattoria di Magliano currently produces five labels among which Heba, the Morellino di Scansano Docg, stands out. In the company vision, Morellino must be, in fact, a ready-to-drink wine, not too demanding, and this justifies the absence of a Reserve. Fattoria di Magliano is certainly an innovative company that bases its production philosophy on the modern concept of "easy" wines to drink, to be savored and enjoyed immediately.
