Buondonno

Gabriele Buondonno and Valeria Sodano are of Neapolitan origins and purchased this farm in 1988, thus fulfilling an ancient dream of theirs: living in the countryside and producing wine; since then they have dedicated themselves body and soul to the production, with organic farming, of a Chianti Classico of the highest level. The farm is located in Castellina in Chianti, in one of the most suitable areas for the production of this extraordinary wine.
The farm, which is located on the beautiful Chianti hills, extends over 20 hectares: eight of these are cultivated with vineyards on land particularly suited to viticulture. Since 1992 the company has begun replanting the vines, 90% Sangiovese, with a small part of Canaiolo, Colorino, Syrah and Merlot. Everything is seen from a particularly respectful perspective for the surrounding environment and for the vineyard itself: absolute reduction of synthetic chemical substances, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. The cellar is equipped with all modern equipment for the production of wine, from large concrete and steel tanks in which fermentation takes place, with absolutely native yeasts, to barriques and tonneaus in which the remaining production phases take place; bottling occurs simply by gravity and the bottles rest for final refinement, at a controlled temperature, for different periods for each type of wine. All this attention translates into a real philosophy of life for Gabriele and Valeria, who decided to join the protocol of the Triple A Association, among the first (at the beginning of the 2000s) to gather producers with a single idea: to produce wines in the most natural way possible. As Gabriele himself claims: "you have to tiptoe into a natural environment to try to be as less invasive as possible".
