1950 is an absolutely significant date for the Pala winery, in fact Salvatore began, for the first time, to make wine with his own labels, with the aim of selling his quality wines; before then there was production linked only to family consumption, like most wineries in Sardinia (and beyond). White wine, at the time, was produced from the native Nuragus vine, red wine from Monica and Pascale grapes. Thus, a highly appreciated production began over time, and the winery consolidated, acquiring new plots of vineyards, again in the Serdiana area, in the heart of Sardinia. 1995 is another historic date for the winery: Salvatore Pala passes the reins of the family business to his sons Mario, Gilberto, Enrico. Mario Pala is the vineyard man and also the cellar man, while the other brothers take care of the management of the farm. The Pala brand is already known locally for producing quality wines. The historic labels Crabilis Vermentino, Elima Monica, Salnico Nuragus were born in that period and will remain in the winery's portfolio of proposals. In the early 2000s, the approach to international markets led to significant growth for the company which, in this way, acquired new land and new vineyards. In 2015 the most significant recognition for Pala's long production path, over 60 years: Stellato, the company's flagship Vermentino receives the 3 Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso, the most significant guide of wines in Italy. Pala today is an established and world-renowned winemaking company, whose work has always been linked to the most traditional vines of the area, from Vermentino to Nuragus, from Cannonau to Carignano. There are eight estates that currently belong to the winery, for a total of around 100 hectares of vineyards, which translates into an average of around 500,000 bottles produced per year. Important numbers, but all wines, those that come out of Mario Pala's cellar, capable of exciting from the first moment and capable of presenting the best enological quality of an extraordinary island.
