Feudo Maccari

Feudo Maccari is a recent creation by Antonio Moretti , an eclectic (and controversial) fashion and wine entrepreneur. In its orbit gravitate first-rate Tuscan wineries such as Tenuta Setteponti , the progenitor of the Moretti "galaxy", with the famous Oreno wine, a Bordeaux blend of impeccable workmanship and longevity, known throughout the world. From the wines of Bolgheri , with Podere Orma , to those of the Maremma with Poggio al Lupo , up to Feudo Maccari, a splendid reality in Noto , in the province of Syracuse . In the heart of the Val di Noto, Moretti and his daughter Monica founded this splendid winery in 2000, acquiring vineyards from over 50 different owners and, at the same time, committing themselves to a rigorous recovery of the local traditions of the past through the restoration of a splendid baroque fiefdom , suggestive and of rare beauty, right in the countryside of Noto. The landscape is unique: expanses of prickly pears, olive trees, almond groves and palm trees; the Nero d'Avola vineyards, the native grape par excellence of the area, extend up to Pachino, replanted following the advice of the well-known French nurseryman Gilbert Bouvet . And it was decided to continue the ancient form of "sapling" cultivation, decidedly more demanding and therefore more expensive, precisely to recover one of the oldest and most natural forms of vine cultivation in Sicily: wines therefore inextricably linked to the terroir, among the most intense, rich and refined expressions of Nero d'Avola. The Feudo today boasts a modern and functional cellar, from which red wines of notable elegance, richness and intensity emerge, also thanks to a terroir with a truly unique microclimate, including the soils of ancient volcanic origin that make the Noto valley, which has always been so suited to viticulture.
