Tua Rita

It all began in 1984, when Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti fell in love with this splendid corner of Tuscan paradise and began cultivating the land with the production of various agricultural products. As time goes by, the passion for wine becomes more and more compelling and uncontainable. Initially they only had around 3 hectares of vineyard available; the work was immediately rigorous and painstaking, soon the first satisfactions were achieved and in the space of about ten years they reached 9, then 20 hectares at the beginning of the new millennium, to reach the current 30 hectares of vineyards. The winery is located in the Val di Cornia and, progressively, awareness of the enormous wine-growing potential of this area is growing. 1992 is the key year for this winery. From the blend of the two new borns Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon a wine is born, the "Giusto di Notri", which immediately becomes talked about, nationally and internationally. Two years later it was the turn of a new exciting experiment: it was decided to vinify the Merlot intended for "Giusto di Notri" in purity. Thus was born the Redigaffi, the company's top wine, which with the famous 2000 vintage was even consecrated internationally by Robert Parker as a world excellence, obtaining the maximum score of 100/100! This paved the way towards the international success of the company, which also saw an expansion and modernization of the cellar between 2000 and 2002, in order to allow for more consistent production. And if the agronomic and cellar management could not progress without the commitment of Rita and Virgilio, that of the image and marketing could not develop without the work of Stefano Frascolla, husband of Simona, daughter of the owners, who is also involved in the management of the cellar after Virgilio's death in 2010. Out of curiosity, the name of the company is due to a simple inversion between the name and surname of Rita Tua. Extraordinary wines!
