The tradition in wine production at Bera has distant origins, over a century ago. However, it is only at the end of the 70s that Valter Bera decides to produce wine on his own, with the name Bera: it is an important step, as it takes courage and determination, but above all great passion and love for one's land and its traditions. We are in the heart of the Langhe, near Neviglie and the family's large manor house dominates among the vineyards. There are 23 hectares of vineyards, located in an area with clayey-tuff soil, rich in limestone, at an altitude between 320 and 380 meters and with a south-southwest exposure perfect for the ripening of the grapes. This is certainly a great advantage for the production of quality grapes, but it is not enough. It also takes competence and experience, factors that have grown over time, together with the wines, which are now local excellences.
Today Valter's sons, Umberto and Riccardo, continue their father's work, driven by the same passion and the desire to always improve. The basic philosophy is always very respectful of the tradition of the territory; all phases of production are directly followed, from the cultivation of the vine to the transformation and bottling, with great passion and desire to make excellent wines. The flagship label is Moscato d'Asti, which has made them famous nationally and internationally, obtaining well-deserved recognition. A wine absolutely linked to the family traditions and the deepest roots of this magnificent land. With Moscato in the heart, to produce Asti Spumante docg and Moscato d'Asti, and Nebbiolo in the head, to make Barbaresco, Nebbiolo Langhe and the surprising Sassisto. Today Valter and his two sons still look ahead and, while they continue to cultivate Dolcetto and Barbera, in order not to give up the more territorial wines, they also produce Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to prepare a new and intriguing sparkling wine, namely an Alta Langa Brut Classic method.
