Podere 414 links its name to an agrarian reform of 1960, when the Maremma Authority attributed the number 414 to that plot of land, giving it as a concession, like many other farms, to families from all over Italy. The territory, between the sea and the hills, has always been harsh and hostile, forcing farmers to work the land based on seasonality. Over the years, and thanks to hard and constant work, the Maremma countryside has changed and since 1998, the Castelli family has transformed the 22 hectares of land near Magliano in Toscana, into an area particularly suitable for high-density cultivation of typical vines of this region. The Podere 414 winery is located about 10 kilometers from Scansano and the reference vines are predominantly Sangiovese although, to a minimal extent, the cultivations are also dedicated to Colorino, Syrah, Alicante and Ciliegiolo. Organic farming is used for the production of all the wines, which mainly focuses on the famous Morellino di Scansano DOCG. The company can boast an annual production of around 90,000 bottles made with a lot of care, experience and love for quality; labels increasingly appreciated and rewarded by national and international critics.
