Right in the heart of Romagna between Forlì and Cesena, specifically in Bertinoro, is the Giovanna Madonia agricultural company which extends over approximately 14 hectares of land and has a high density cultivation of plants and low grape yield, at a height ranging from 200 to 350 meters above sea level and with a south-west exposure. The company, founded in 1992 by the owner Giovanna Madonia, is based on a well-structured family management which has contributed to making it known abroad and particularly in the United States. The soil where the Sangiovese and Albana vines are grown is calcareous in nature, interspersed with a particular composition of limestone, sandstone and fossilized marine shells. The microclimate is rather cold, compared to neighboring areas, and is enriched by light winds coming from the sea which give the grapes a particular aroma. The Giovanna Madonia agricultural company has an annual production of approximately 60,000 bottles with a prevalence of Sangiovese and Albana and, to a lesser extent, Merlot. The characteristic of these wines is a long aging in the bottle which increases their quality, giving them body and thickness. The cellar that hosts them dates back to 1700 and has been expertly renovated, with a perfect combination of modernity and tradition, between wood and steel. Wines to discover!
