Salcheto

Salcheto proudly represents one of the most advanced wineries in the world  regarding environmental sustainability and biodiversity. It boasts, among other things, important world records relating to the Carbon and Water Footprint indices, very prestigious indicators in the Green world. This splendid estate is located in the province of Siena, in the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano docg denomination; this is where you find its headquarters, founded thirty years ago as an agricultural enterprise, then transformed over the years into a winery, and today based on a highly qualitative and innovative philosophy. Michele Manelli is the creator of all this, since 1997 at the helm of the futuristic winery which, currently, can count on a vineyard area that covers approximately 50 hectares; naturally, since 2009, both in the vineyard and in the cellar the sustainable dictates of organic and biodynamic agriculture have been followed. The vineyards are distributed partly near the winery and partly scattered among the suitable territories of Montepulciano, with very specific characterizations regarding the soil. The entire production process, from the vineyard to the final bottling, is aimed at obtaining the highest quality, paying attention to all the intrinsic peculiarities of the grapes, so each production step is carried out with obsessive attention. The rigorously manual harvest is followed by vinification without the addition of sulphites and with only native yeasts, while the aging is carried out in large wooden barrels. In the wines of Salcheto, the native vine par excellence of Tuscany prevails, namely Sangiovese; it is in this way that Salcheto wines come to symbolize the best essence of the Montepulciano terroir. From the Rosso to the Nobile di Montepulciano, to get to the Riserva passing through the “Obvius: they are balanced, elegant, important and intense wines, but all are very enjoyable to drink; let's meet again  the harmony that Salcheto seeks and promotes in the encounter with nature.
