Paolo Leo

The winemaking history of the Leo family dates back a long time, even at the beginning of the 20th century: the founder began making wine from his grapes in the Masseria Monticello, then it was his son who inherited the land and built the winery in the village, the current headquarters of the company. And today it is still an heir, Paolo Leo, born in 1960, who leads the new winery, together with his family. The company's belief has always been to be able to obtain high quality wines through work, passion and dedication, dismantling the ancient customs and beliefs that led to the belief that Apulian wine was indomitable, too alcoholic and intense, only as good as blending wine. Today Paolo Leo's wines are quality products, recognized internationally, which demonstrate elegance and finesse, while maintaining the original, identifying character of these lands. Nicola, Paolo's son, a graduate in oenology, recently joined the company and has created a rich assortment of wines in which  expresses all his passion and competence. They are true creations, wines that reflect his tastes, his philosophy and which highlight the fabulous potential of the estate's vineyards. We are in fact in San Donaci, a village between Lecce and Taranto, in the heart of Salento, a place where the historical and landscape beauties enchant, such as the Negroamaro Park, a social, economic and cultural place that involves 26 municipalities of Salento . As evidence of the love nurtured by the Leo family for their places of origin, there is a truly praiseworthy project: it is called "adopt a vineyard, adopt a sapling", an initiative to actively safeguard the traditional method of growing vineyards Alberello, an ancient system, put at risk by those who try to produce quantity and not quality. Whoever decides to adopt a vineyard will have the opportunity to see it grow and enjoy its wine once ready.
