Emidio Pepe

Emidio Pepe founded his company in 1964 , after having supported his father and grandfather who, starting from 1899, made wine at the Pepe house. Before anyone else he believed in the enormous potential of Trebbiano and Montepulciano of Abruzzo and has dedicated all his energies to these two native vines, proving their great aging potential and making them known to the whole world.

A balance in the vineyard , achieved after years of work, thanks to the expert hand of the viticulturist Emidio Pepe, who with over 50 years of harvests behind him has been able to perfectly regulate the nourishment of the plants, tillage of the soil, pruning and vegetation of the vines, limiting every type of intervention in the vineyard and cellar. Emidio maintains an attachment to the land composed of observation, care and gestures that only appear repetitive and which, instead, contain the mystery of peasant life . Sofia's attention towards natural wines has allowed her profound exchanges with other Italian and foreign producers, so as to acquire the awareness that her father's professed agricultural discipline already had the hallmarks of organicity. Therefore, wine has always been left to age in the bottle and decant naturally because with filtration it would lose many properties. This is the philosophy that the Pepe family applies step by step in the process that leads to the production of its wine, always vinified in concrete with refinements without the use of wooden barrels in the cellar .

The 15 hectares owned by Emidio Pepe are located in a breathtaking panorama, with the sea just a few kilometers away and the Gran Sasso behind, with clay and limestone soils and a ventilated microclimate with good temperature variations. Ideal conditions for producing extremely long-lived and unique wines.
