Bombay Sapphire is a gin brand founded in 1987 and currently purchased by the famous Bacardi company . It owes its historic name and originates from the fame and popularity that gin had acquired in India during the British colonial period and from the Star of Bombay, an enormous sapphire found precisely in those areas; The typical blue color of this bottle of gin also derives from the shade of the precious gem. Bombay Sapphire has an alcoholic strength of 40% vol. and is obtained using the London Dry method: the production process involves distillation through three copper stills with the aromas positioned above them in such a way that the vapors pass through and permeate the ingredients and absorb each scent as best as possible . Bombay Sapphire East is a particular version of the classic recipe, created in 2014 by master botanist Ivano Tonutti, containing lemongrass from Thailand and pepper from Vietnam; its flavor is more incisive, with citric and almost spicy notes, in contrast to the sweeter ones given by typical Western ingredients such as juniper or almond. Its bottle maintains the classic blue glass, but with a blue label and a central ideogram to testify to its strong oriental inspiration. A truly special and intriguing product and company.
