Gourmel Leopold

Gourmel Leopold
Information
Region: France
Year of foundation: 1972
Address: La Couture - 16130 Gente (France)

Pierre Voisin created his first cognacs in 1972 and wanted to call them Leopold Gourmel, in memory of his grandfather, a winemaker and saddler from Ile de Ré in the 19th century. After his successor Oliver Blanc, it is now Nicolas Sinoquet who certifies the quality of Gourmel cognacs, guaranteeing respect for the origins and the time to mature. These cognacs come from the best soils, which guarantee them strength and aromatic richness and take inspiration from the famous Bordeaux wines. The wines of the "precious woods" area come from vines whose roots can reach 20-30 meters deep to obtain the best resources of the soil. The resulting wine is stronger, richer, more aromatic and mineral. The grapes all come from proprietary vineyards, with a yield of 60 quintals. per hectare. No sugar or caramel, artificial colors or tannins are added as is usually used in cognac production. Defender of natural methods, Nicolas Siloquet continues to filter the brandy with delicate methods, which do not affect the organoleptic qualities of the cognac. All the qualities are single vintage: Age de Fruit, Age des Epices, Age des Fleurs, Premier Saveur and Quintessence. Both the "Sommelier" range and the "Classic" range possess the natural elegance to satisfy the most sophisticated expectations.
