The Maison Ruinart is one of the oldest champagne producers in the world, founded in Reims, France, in 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart. The Ruinart family was already engaged in the trade of high quality fabrics and silks. Maison Ruinart was one of the first champagne houses to focus exclusively on the production of sparkling wines, rather than a wide range of still wines. This decision proved successful and Maison Ruinart soon became famous for its high quality champagnes. Maison Ruinart was the first champagne house to create an underground cellar, whose constant temperature favors the aging and conservation of the wine. Over the years, Maison Ruinart has been led by many generations of Ruinart family descendants, who have continued to innovate and expand the company. In 1817, Maison Ruinart became the official supplier of champagne to the Russian imperial court, which significantly increased its popularity in Europe. In 1963, Maison Ruinart was acquired by the champagne house Moët et Chandon, which continued to operate it as a separate entity. Today, Maison Ruinart is part of the larger LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton group. The underground cellar of Maison Ruinart, which extends over 8 kilometers, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2015. Maison Ruinart has continued to innovate over the years, introducing new production techniques and using agricultural techniques sustainable to preserve the territory in which its grapes grow. The Maison Ruinart is still one of the most respected and admired champagne houses in the world, with a long tradition of excellence in the industry.
