Messiio wine is produced in the "Tenuta Fertuna" winery located in the Tuscan Maremma in the Grilli area in the municipality of Gavorrano. It has an extension of about 50 hectares of vineyards and the vines enjoy a particular terroir: in fact, the soil is clayey of medium texture, Galestro and Alberese, which is a particular calcareous-marly sedimentary rock very suitable for the cultivation of vines and the nearby the Tyrrhenian Sea also allows the sea air to reach the crops. Messiio, a traditional name meaning "he who will come", is the excellent wine of the cellar, produced only in the best vintages. Made with only Merlot grapes, coming from the most long-lived and selected vineyards of the estate, it represents the maximum expression of this blend, universally recognized as a vine with great roundness and softness. It is part of the so-called "Super Tuscans" (excellent wines made from non-native grapes, such as Merlot and Cabernet, etc.). VINIFICATION AND AGING: Partial fermentation in Allier tonneaux and subsequent aging for 12 months in barriques (new and second passage) followed by blending. Rest in the bottle for a minimum of 6 months. COLOUR: Very intense garnet red. TASTING NOTES: Intense red wine. The nose is an explosion of black fruits in infinite variety, wrapped in subtle notes of vanilla. On the palate the aromatic component evolves towards tobacco and chocolate, with a slight note of caramel. Round, full-bodied and intense. Intriguing!
