'Moroccoli' Syrah Sicilia Menfi DOC Planeta 2019

The award-winning red "Moroccoli" Syrah Sicilia Menfi DOC sees the light in Menfi, in the province of Agrigento. The 100% Syrah grapes come from vineyards located in the Maroccoli district, 400 meters above sea level, in a handkerchief of uncontaminated land. After all, the Syrah vine gives its best in the bright and dry areas of this part of Sicily. In particular, an exceptional microclimate is created in Maroccoli, thanks to sea breezes and an average rainfall in late spring and summer. Here the Planeta winery planted its first vines in the eighties and today owns 5 other estates in different areas of Sicily, from Noto to Capo Milazzo. The cellar also houses the Iter Vitis museum, designed to enhance the wine culture of the island. The harvest begins in the second week of September and the structured red "Moroccoli" Syrah Sicilia Menfi DOC can be drunk immediately, after 14 months of aging in barriques, but offers its best after 4/5 years of ageing, after purchase.
