Merlot Lazio IGT Casale del Giglio 2019

Casale del Giglio's Lazio Merlot IGT is made from 100% Merlot grapes. The vine originates from France and its introduction in the Agro Pontino is due to the work of the Venetian settlers. In the 1930s, the latter reclaimed the marshy lands of Lazio, returning them to viticulture. The variety, which adapts well to all climate and soil conditions, has not, however, found adequate development over the decades. Thanks to the company's project, in recent years, the international variety has been re-evaluated, bringing it to high quality standards. Lazio Merlot IGT is proof of this. In this case, the search for the best clones, rootstocks and the adaptation of the training system have gone beyond the hoped-for results. The wine, in fact, has its own personality that distinguishes it from other reds of the same type. Structure, finesse and adequate tannins are the result of the passage in small oak barrels. In short, a gem that despite its ancient origins proves to be brilliantly contemporary.
