The Mirto di Sardegna produced by the Tremontis liquor factory - distillery is undoubtedly the best known liqueur on the island. It is obtained from a mixture of myrtle berries that are processed in the distillery located in the province of Oristano, in Paulilatino. After the manual harvesting of the myrtle berries, a careful selection takes place and the best ones are placed in maceration together with alcohol and sugar, without adding preservatives and colourings. The refinement takes place in steel containers and subsequently in the bottle and the alcohol content is 30 degrees. The distillery, which has been operating in the sector for about 30 years, specializes in the production of typical Sardinian liqueurs and guarantees high quality production standards. Myrtle of Sardinia , which must be served very cold, is usually enjoyed preferably as a digestive and is characterized by its dark red color and bitter aftertaste. Recently it is also drunk as an aperitif.
