Morellino di Scansano DOCG is an intense red made by the Fattoria dei Barbi winery, a famous production reality that aims to tell the peculiarities of Tuscany through its wines. The philosophy of this company is perfectly represented by the blend chosen for this label, made up largely of grapes from the autochthonous Sangiovese vine, which is joined by 15% of the international Merlot variety. The vineyards are located within the Aquilaia dei Barbi, a vineyard which enjoys an ideal southern exposure. Once the meticulous harvest has been completed, the bunches are de-stemmed and placed in vats for fermentation, a phase that requires rigorous temperature control. For the refinement, which lasts about six months, both steel tanks and large wooden barrels are used, so that the wine can maintain its varietal notes. Morellino di Scansano DOCG is perfect if it is enjoyed shortly after bottling, even if it has the ability to give pleasant surprises even after a few years in the cellar.
