Primitivo Salento PGI Old Tower 2019

Primitivo Salento PGI is a small gem of the wine production proposed by Vecchia Torre. The company is one of the most famous in Puglia and its main estates are located in the province of Lecce, in the spectacular Salento area. The distinctly Mediterranean climate, combined with the alluvial and calcareous content of the soil, constitutes one of the perfect conditions for optimal development of the vineyards. The sapling crops, traditional of Apulian enology, host the bunches of Primitivo, a 100% pure grape variety used to obtain red wine. The best grape qualities are selected at the end of September, brought to the company and destemmed, leaving the must to ferment at a controlled temperature. Aging takes place both in steel tanks and in French oak barriques for 12 months, then the wine is bottled and can age in the cellar for up to 3 or 4 years. Primitivo Salento PGI has an important structure and great elegance, but also shows a surprising softness. Perfect for a reception with friends or for a large convivial lunch.
