It is the perfect boblet for red wines with good structure and intensity; this type of wine certainly needs to "open" (that means to better develop its aromatic, intense and complex profile) and this is made possible by contact with oxygen (oxygenation) which, in fact, is facilitated by the generous dimensions of the chalice.

This wine is ready to be tasted now, with great satisfaction; however, it has qualities that allow it to evolve and refine over time, if properly stored, for at least another 2-3 years.

Description

The Montefalco Rosso DOC from the Rocca di Fabbri winery is a wine that was born in the DOCG area of Montefalco, near Perugia, thanks to the commitment and passion which, since the early eighties, have driven the owner, Pietro Vitali, to seek new balances and experiments. Everything originates on difficult soils, poor in water and nutrients yet made fertile by the study of particular methods of nutrition and pruning, capable of enhancing all the characteristics of the plants. In these vineyards Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Nieluccio are grown, always with the utmost respect for the territory. The Montefalco Rosso DOC, then, comes from an assembly of 65% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and the remainder of red berried grapes; after an initial fermentation in steel, it is aged for 8 months in steel and 12 months in oak barrels before bottling and marketing. The result is a wine with an intense red colour, structured, dry and with a persistent, rightly tannic taste (given the grapes used) which can be safely consumed even after aging for a few years.
